Pump Design & Efficiency

Water is a relatively heavy substance, which requires a significant amount of energy in order to pump it from source to customer.  Energy costs represent a large proportion of a water companies total expenditure, and any reduction in energy will therefore benefit not only the customer, but also the environment.

Network models can be used to determine the most suitable pump for any given application, ensuring they are operating within their most efficient range and subsequently minimising energy costs.  This offers the ability to perform a cost benefit analysis of new schemes, where sizing of mains and pumps can be reviewed not only in terms of the initial capital investment, but also the long term operational costs.
