Maintaining or rebuilding your network models to deliver the most value for money is a difficult balance. The lifespan of a model is subjective, and depends of how quickly an area of the network develops. Factors such as housing or commercial growth, rezoning, pressure management, or mains rehabilitation schemes can all have a significant impact on the hydraulics of the network; changes that will cause you model results to diverge from reality.
HydroCo have extensive experience with updating and maintaining existing models. Projects typically include merging in the latest GIS revisions, before performing a series of validity checks on a DMA by DMA basis. Areas where the updated model results do not represent reality can be flagged, demand analysis reviewed and if necessary, small scale field testing can be performed.
